This form - “sea fan” - is new for me. This shape is reminiscent of sea forms waving in the gentle ocean currents.
The “Nebula” series colorations are similar to the space photos of galaxies and nebulae.
“Ancient Artifacts” resemble pots dug from the ground by archeologists. The could have been buried for hundreds of years, by the look of their surface
The “Cousteau” series is loosely based on the photographs of undersea life, The seemingly infinite variety of shapes, colors, and textures are represented in these pieces.
The “Amoeba” series reminds me of the amoeba specimens viewed through a microscope during high school biology class.
“Parfait” are tall vases with colorations that are similar to popular parfait desserts.
I’ve always been intrigued by alien/monster movies. I like the kinds of aliens that have many appendages that wrap around and entrapment their prey. This series “Entrapment” is seen in that spirit.
My favorite style of painting is “Impressionism”, the abstract impressions of a scene along with the creative use of color, brush strokes, and technique are wonderful. I’ve been lucky enough to go to the Musee d’Orsay in Paris many times. The impressionist works on display there are second to none.
My interest in astronomy spilled over into glass. The Nebula series (above) is on form. The other form is a series of globes that look like they should be planets orbiting some distance star in some far away galaxy.
The random patterns in these pieces are intriguing. They remind me of the abstract modern art paintings.
The “Garden of Eden” series is based on the vivid colors and the serpent decoration on the front of the piece. Blues, greens, and purples mix with the serpent shape to make interesting forms.
Glass and precious metals intermingle in the “Silver and Gold” series. Gold and Silver foil are applied to the surface of the hot glass. The patterns and shapes are random, but pictures can be seen in the result, much like one sees shapes in cloud formations.
There were two potential titles for this series - “Pueblo Basket” and “Candy Stripe”. Some of the shapes/colors remind me of Native American woven baskets. While others remind me of candy canes and their stripes. I finally settled on “Candy Stripe” for the title of this series.
“Birds at Sunset” - large flocks of birds migrating sout in the late fall sunset.
